Globally, colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer-related death, placing a substantial burden on public health worldwide. Owing to its large population base, China accounts for 28.76% of global colorectal cancer incidence and 30.60% of related deaths, making it a major driving force in advancing colorectal cancer prevention and treatment worldwide. In recent years, breakthroughs in innovative drug development, novel surgical techniques, and robotic-assisted surgery in China have significantly advanced the global standard of colorectal cancer care.

To promote international academic exchange and share the latest advancements in colorectal surgery, Professor Ding Kefeng’s team at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine meticulously organized the 2026 "China-Spain-Canada Colorectal Surgery Clinical Practice Symposium." The conference invited Professor Antonio Arroyo, President of the Spanish Association of Coloproctology (AECP) and Director of Surgery at Hospital General Universitario de Elche, as the keynote speaker to deliver an in-depth presentation on the Hugo robotic surgery system.

At the recently concluded 2026 Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), Qilu Pharmaceutical presented 12 innovative oncology programs, including one oral presentation and eleven poster presentations. These studies span a wide range of tumor types, including gynecologic cancers, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancers, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
