Application of ADC in First-Line Treatment of NSCLC and Interpretation of Results from the EVOKE-02 Study

The 24th World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) was held from September 9 to 12, 2023, in Singapore, organized by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). During the oral presentation session on September 10, the EVOKE-02 study, exploring the first-line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with the combination of sacituzumab govitecan (SG) and pembrolizumab, revealed its preliminary results. The study demonstrated an objective response rate (ORR) of 56% and a disease control rate (DCR) of 82% for stage IV NSCLC patients, laying the foundation for a new treatment strategy. " Oncology Frontier" invited Dr. Stephen V. Liu from Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and Dr. Shun Lu from Shanghai Chest Hospital and Shanghai Jiao Tong University for a virtual dialogue to discuss the significance of the EVOKE-02 study and the future possibilities in NSCLC treatment.

Dr. Jie Jin:  the New JAK Inhibitor Jaktinib in the Treatment of Myelofibrosis (MF)

The 28th European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress was held from June 8th to June 11th, 2023, in Frankfurt, Germany, in a hybrid format combining online and offline meetings. As the largest international conference in the field of European hematology, the EHA Congress covered a wide range of scientific topics, clinical and basic research, including both benign and malignant hematology, discussing the latest developments in the field. Regarding the treatment of Myelofibrosis (MF), several studies from Dr. Jie Jin's team at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University (abstracts S212, P1201, and P1033) were selected for this congress. These studies focused on exploring the efficacy and safety of the new JAK inhibitor Jaktinib in the treatment of MF, attracting significant attention due to its clinical significance. In this regard, Oncology Frontier conducted an on-site interview with Professor Jin Jie and provided a brief explanation of this topic.

ESMO Expert Commentary | Roxadustat Non-inferior to Standard Treatment, Poised to Transform Clinical Practice in Chemotherapy-Induced Anemia

Platinum-based, taxane, anthracycline, and other chemotherapy drugs are commonly used in the treatment of various cancers such as breast and lung cancer. However, these chemotherapy agents, known marrow suppressors, can lead to chemotherapy-induced anemia (CIA), resulting in a decline in functional capacity and diminished quality of life for patients. This year's ESMO conference revealed the results of a Phase III clinical study on roxadustat in treating CIA in patients with non-myeloid malignancies, offering a more convenient treatment option for CIA patients. "Oncology Frontier" is honored to invite Professor Yongmei Yin from Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital and Professor Jian Zhang from Fudan University Cancer Hospital to share insights into the current challenges in CIA treatment and the significance of this study for CIA patients.
