Editor’s Note: Gathering Expertise in China, Uniting Wisdom Across the World. Organized by the China Anti-Cancer Association and hosted by Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital, Tianjin Anti-Cancer Association, and the China Institute of Integrative Medicine Development Strategy, the “2023 Chinese Congress of Holistic Integrative Oncology (2023 CCHIO)” will be held in Tianjin from November 16th to 19th, 2023. On the eve of the conference, Oncology Frontier interviewed Professor Daiming Fan, Chairman of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, to summarize the highlights of the CCHIO and offer his words of encouragement.

The Chinese Congress on Oncology (CCO), founded by the China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) in 2000, has a history of more than twenty years and is a highly influential academic conference in the field of oncology in China. Over the years, the CACA has been adhering to the concept of integrated medicine with the motto ” Cancer Prevention and Control: Success through Integration “. Starting this year, the CCO will be renamed as the Chinese Congress of Holistic Integrative Oncology (CCHIO). With the CCHIO as a base, platform, and lever, we will actively consolidate expert knowledge, academic accomplishments, advanced technologies, and industry resources to advance the development of an integrated oncology medical service system.

With Tianjin as Focal Point, Gathering Expertise All in China

With China as the Center, Uniting Wisdom Across the World

This year’s CCHIO will be held in Tianjin from November 16th to 19th. The conference will host over a hundred sessions, with many academicians and top medical experts in attendance.

This conference is poised to be the largest, highest-quality, and most influential academic event in the field of oncology in China. Using a “1 + N” format, the main venue in Tianjin will accommodate tens of thousands of participants, while satellite venues across provinces and cities will be linked to host regional sessions. This will ignite a nationwide fervor for oncology research, with Tianjin as the focal point, catalyzing a gathering of expertise across China.

During the conference, renowned scholars from over 100 countries and regions will discuss global strategies for cancer prevention and treatment. They will also share cutting-edge advancements in oncology diagnosis and therapy. With China as the center, this event aims to unite the global wisdom in advancing the cause of human cancer prevention and treatment.

Cancer Prevention and Treatment: Success Through Integration

The most distinctive feature of the CCHIO is integration. We are not only integrating talents and resources, but also integrating academic knowledge, domestic and international cancer prevention and treatment teams, traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine, various disciplines, and a wide range of reinforces. The aim is to provide comprehensive and whole-process support for cancer prevention and treatment.

Holistic Medicine is the characteristic of future medical development, representing a new medical system and serving as the solution to the challenges faced by contemporary medicine. This year’s CCHIO will be a practical application of the concept of holistic medicine and a collision of wisdom, bringing more insights to the field of oncology.

We will summarize the significant achievements of the CACA in recent years, especially the development and promotion of the ” China Anti-Cancer Association guidelines for holistic integrative management of cancer” (CACA Guidelines). The first edition of the CACA Guidelines was the result of the dedicated efforts of over 13,000 experts, including 331 academicians. This monumental work, comprising over 30 million characters, was promoted nationwide for 15 consecutive months, spanning 31 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, as well as Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, through 100 different content events, covering a total distance of over 135,000 kilometers, and reaching over 2.5 billion viewers online and offline.

This CCHIO is also a pledge-taking ceremony for the future development of oncology. We will vigorously promote the CACA Guidelines at the grassroots level and in various fields, with the goal of elevating the academic level and standardizing the diagnosis and treatment of oncology diseases in China. Ultimately, we aim to benefit a wider population and contribute to the realization of the grand blueprint of “Healthy China 2030”!
