At the highly anticipated Game Changer Session at EAU25, Professor Declan Murphy (Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne) delivered an impactful presentation on the results of the TRANSLATE trial, a multicentre, randomised, controlled study led by Associate Professor Richard J. Bryant (University of Oxford). The trial directly compared the diagnostic performance and safety of local anaesthetic transperineal (TP) prostate biopsy versus the standard transrectal ultrasound-guided (TRUS) approach.

The session emphasized the broader implications of the findings, pointing to a shift in diagnostic standards across urological practice. Professor Murphy’s presentation and the work of Dr. Bryant and the TRANSLATE team have set a new benchmark for biopsy approaches in prostate cancer care.

Many thanks to Professor Murphy for the compelling presentation and to Associate Professor Bryant and all contributing investigators for their leadership in driving this important research forward.
