Liver cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounting for nearly 90% of primary liver cancers. The newly updated EASL Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) offer essential updates to improve patient care.
The guidelines highlight key advancements, including personalized surveillance based on individual risk assessment, standardization of imaging procedures, and the integration of minimally invasive surgery in complex cases. They also address updates on liver transplantation, transitions between surgical, locoregional, and systemic therapies, and the expanding role of radiation therapy and immunotherapy across different disease stages.
A multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach is emphasized, ensuring that the latest scientific innovations are effectively integrated into clinical practice.
