The 2023 Chinese Congress of Holistic Integrative Oncology(CCHIO 2023) was held in Tianjin, attracting global oncology experts and scholars to contribute to cancer prevention and treatment. Malignant tumors pose a significant threat to public health, and effective cancer control is crucial for the health of the Chinese population.
The conference, organized by the China Anti-Cancer Association and hosted by Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital, Tianjin Anti-Cancer Association, and China Integrated Medical Development Strategy Research Institute, commenced in Tianjin on November 18th. It featured a blend of online and offline participation, showcasing the vibrancy of oncology in Tianjin.

Hao Xishan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Cancer, served as the honorary chairman of the conference. Fan Daiming, another academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the chairman of the China Anti-Cancer Association, presided over the event. Lu Wei, the party secretary and vice chairman of the China Anti-Cancer Association, and Hao Jihui, the vice party secretary and president of Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital, served as executive chairmen.
This year’s conference returned to Tianjin, the birthplace of China’s oncology field and the home of the China Anti-Cancer Association. It adopted a “1+N” format, co-hosting with 30 provinces and cities. The main venue was in Tianjin, with 18 thematic and over 100 sub-venues, extending integrated medical concepts and services nationwide under the theme “Winning in Integration for Cancer Prevention and Treatment.” The opening ceremony featured the 2023 China Anti-Cancer Association Science and Technology Awards and the Young Scientist Awards, along with the launch of the “CACA Guidelines for Holistic Integrative Management of Cancer (CACA Guidelines).”

The China Anti-Cancer Association initiated the “Healthy China in Action and CACA Guidelines China Tour” campaign, focusing on grassroots medical needs. Esteemed experts were invited to local hospitals, communities, and villages to conduct public lectures and free clinics, promoting the implementation of the CACA Guidelines at the grassroots level and enhancing chronic disease management and major disease prevention capabilities among primary care physicians.
This conference introduced multiple rounds of international sessions and Sino-foreign academician forums to address global health challenges and convey China’s perspectives to the world. It also featured industry-academia-research summits to discuss the transformation of scientific research into practical applications, enhancing clinical research and innovation in Tianjin and nationwide.
The event focused on China’s ten major advancements in oncology, including interdisciplinary research in medical engineering and minimally invasive surgery for cancer. Through international collaboration, the conference aimed to integrate global research resources, advancing China’s research and clinical practices in oncology.
