Yao Suo
Chairman, Hospital Infection Control Professional Committee, Shaanxi Preventive Medicine Association
Since I entered the field of infection control in 1993, I have walked a 31-year journey. Reflecting on the past, the first decade of my work largely remained at a superficial level, such as reviewing discharge records and monitoring infection rates, with relatively limited practical guidance and intervention in clinical infection control.
In 2005, the SIFIC forum, founded by Dr. Bijie Hu, served as a beacon, illuminating our way forward. The SIFIC platform has guided us from evidence-based infection control to precision infection control, step by step, leading us to do the right thing. As the theme of the inaugural conference pointed out, “The urgent task of hospital infection surveillance in China: Doing the right thing.”
At the same time, the moderators of the SIFIC forum have, for many years, been like streetlights, illuminating our path of learning, communication, and progress. Here, I would like to say to my peers: On this long and rugged road of infection control, as long as we keep moving forward with determination and focus, we will ultimately become leaders in the field.
Mi Zhou
Department of Pharmacy, Children’s Hospital of Soochow University
As a clinical pharmacist, I may not be a core member of the SIFIC family, but I have deeply felt its inclusiveness and integration. Since joining SIFIC in 2016, over the past nine years, I have witnessed the exchange and growth among different professions, all of us pouring our passion into the cause of infection control. We often engage in discussions late at night, sometimes even until the early hours, and this professional dedication and pursuit inspire every member.
Dr. Bijie Hu, as our guide, often shares and discusses the latest developments in the field with us late at night, leading us to continuously learn and improve. This dedication and passion for work have been invaluable to my personal growth. In a team like this, self-motivation is crucial; it not only fuels our work enthusiasm but also fosters personal growth in our professional field.
Therefore, I choose “passion” as the keyword for SIFIC’s twenty years. This passion not only drives us forward but also serves as the source of our team’s continuous progress.
Xiaolong Li
Deputy Director, Infection Control Department, Affiliated Infectious Disease Hospital of Zhengzhou University
My SIFIC keyword is “exploration.” Although I have only worked in infection control for 12 years, I believe that SIFIC’s 20 years of growth is in sync with the development of the infection control profession. From the initial exploratory phase to its current status as a systematic and mature discipline, infection control professionals have been constantly exploring, thinking about the responsibilities and missions we should undertake.
With a spirit of openness and sharing, the SIFIC platform has developed into a leading infection control communication platform in China, encompassing websites, forums, video channels, and mini-programs. In this era of rapid technological advancement, how to keep the infection control discipline up-to-date, using scientific methods to grow stronger and advance alongside other disciplines, remains a topic we need to explore deeply.
Exploration is not only SIFIC’s past but also our future. Let us move forward hand in hand, constantly progressing through exploration, and jointly promoting the development of the infection control discipline
