
News Update: The review results of the 2024 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) centralized application period projects were recently announced. Dr. Tian Yang from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University was awarded the National Distinguished Youth Science Fund Project.
Dr. Tian Yang’s Profile
- Position: Deputy Director, Second Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Third Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University; Deputy Chief Physician; Associate Professor; Deputy Director of the Clinical Research Institute; Director of the Central Laboratory; and Executive Editor of iLIVER.
Background and Contributions: Dr. Tian Yang has studied under Academicians Mengchao Wu and Yunyi Liu. He has been engaged in clinical and scientific research in hepatobiliary surgery for over 20 years and has performed more than 6,000 routine and complex hepatobiliary surgeries. His expertise lies in individualized clinical diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary tumors, primarily through surgical intervention. His research focuses on the development of early diagnostic markers for liver cancer, precision diagnostics and recurrence prediction, personalized and comprehensive surgical treatment, and the development of drug delivery carriers for liver cancer.

He has presided over six NSFC projects and ten provincial and ministerial-level funds and has won two first prizes for scientific progress in Shanghai.
